    Incumbent often works off station for long periods of time, occasionally at great distances from the Facility.     • Incumbent serves as a transportation service driver.
    • Transportation driver fills in as back up driver to all phases and areas of the West Palm Beach VAMC transportation service, as needed.
    • This to include special mode patient transport, Parking Lot Shuttle Service, Miami VA shuttle service and any courier type services that requires any needed materials/cargo/hand mail service, food service pick up and delivery of required transports.
    • Drivers are to be proficient in all areas of the transportation service.
    • This will be accomplished through all required training.
    • Shuttle buses driven, Vehicle type: 16 to 32 passenger buses (GVW-14,050 lbs) .32 passenger bus (GVW-36,350 lbs). 44 passenger bus (GVW-36,200 lbs) . All other vehicle types driven: patient transport Handy-Capped high top vans (6,900 lbs) . Compact sedans, (GVW-3,936 lbs) Mini Vans, (GVW-5,400 lbs) . Large passenger vans, (GVW-9, 100 lbs).
    • Incumbent must abide by all .City, State, and Federal regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles.
    • Incumbent must be able to maneuver vehicles over improved and unimproved roads at up to and including highway speeds.
    • Incumbent is responsible for his/her actions and the accurate and timely completion of his/her responsibilities.
    • Incumbent works as a team member and assists others as necessary to carry the Mission to
    • Incumbent receives patient transport schedules from the FMS transportation travel scheduler for the daily transportation schedule when assigned to special mode transportation section.
    • Each trip is planned for vehicle type, route and equipment needed.
    • Incumbent must be familiar with medical equipment located in patient transport vehicles and be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
    • Motor Vehicle Operators are required to be re-certified in CPR every 2 years and provide documentation to the supervisor for input in employee records.
    • Incumbent will enter all required motor vehicle reports and records documentation as directed by the Lead Motor Vehicle Operator or Supervisor.

    • When not operating motor vehicles he/she will report to the Lead Motor Vehicle Operator or Supervisor to assist in the daily operation of the Transportation Section. Incumbent may be asked to transport vehicles for repair, maintenance, replacement, driver back fill support.
    • Incumbent will be required to complete a daily trip report annotating data such as mileage, driving times, any problems encountered with the vehicle and any issues arising with patient transport. Drivers will perform pre-trip inspections on all vehicles before departure. Drivers are responsible for correcting minor vehicle problems such as lamps, flat tires, tire pressure and fluid levels.
    • Each Driver is responsible for reporting and if necessary scheduling completion of repairs when outside service is necessary.
    • Incumbent is required to posses a valid state of Florida drivers license with class "B" (COL) with passenger endorsement.
    • He/she will provide the Transportation Supervisor with proof of license and motor vehicle driving record annually, inform Supervisor of any adverse measures taken against the license as required by the State of Florida. Incumbent will be required to pass a physical examination annually and random drug testing as required for all Government Motor Vehicle Operators.
    • All drivers will be issued a cell phone with ear piece, pager, two-way radio or any combination of these. These are to be carried at all times and used for Official Business Only. Conversations will be brief and job related.
