    Responsibilities

    As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Maintain surveillance over industrial security requirements for contractor computer systems, specialized equipment and IS networks.
    • Evaluate contractor certification and DSS accreditation and recommend the approval or disapproval to operate an IS.
    • Document security plan errors and/or omissions and corresponding and communicating error and/or omissions to contractors in accordance with DoD and DSS requirements.
    • Provide guidance and technical assistance to Industrial Security Representatives and contractors on DoD and DSS IS industrial security requirements.

    Qualifications

    This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210: Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

    Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

    Specialized experience required for this position is: Senior level knowledge of advanced information technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices relating to information systems security in order to function as the technical authority for information systems security issues, as well as, extensive knowledge of common computer operating systems, networking fundamentals and architecture, and network security devices.
