An Aircraft Mechanic, WG, 8852, 12, Directs, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft. Work is performed in complex working conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of subordinate aircraft mechanics. Coordinates and oversees the work of journey level workers in other trades working simultaneously on the assigned aircraft. Reviews, trains and prepares to perform battle damage assessment/repair. Participates in mission generation/regeneration operations. Directs multiple specialists in preparing aircraft for combat operations. Expedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, hot pit refueling and/or combat turns or integrated combat turns. Performs preflight, postflight, thru flight, periodic, isochronal, phase, hourly and special inspections, as well as servicing, defueling, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Ensures aircraft documentation and Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) accurately reflect the airworthiness of the Aircraft. Performs in-process and final inspection of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modification to verify and certify by signature adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications. Plans, develops and conducts training during the technician work week to a multi facet workforce comprised of from 3 to 8 assigned military positions. Training sessions are designed to provide instructions in techniques of repair and maintenance of aircraft and related equipment. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises and Operations Other Than War (OOTW). Upon selection, individual must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota National Guard.

Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

REMARKS: No PCS available. Two Positions are available. Position will not be filled until current incumbent vacates. Members with rank higher than identified in 'key requirements' are eligible to apply but, may be required to take a reduction should they be selected. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123 is required. This position is subject to rules and regulations of the USAF and the ANG, to include fitness standards, as well as any AFSC specific requirements. The selecting official may make up to two selections. This is a dual status position. Sensitivity Level 2.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: ENLISTED (E-5/SSgt to E-7/MSgt)
IAW NGR 600-25 AND AFI 36-101, grade inversion within the full-time workforce is not permitted.

How You Will Be Evaluated
AREAS OF PRIORITY: In Accordance with MN National Guard Regulation 690-335 (Army) or 36-1 (Air), Applications will be forwarded to the selection official to conduct reviews by area of priority as listed below
Area 1: Current On-board Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed.
Area 2: Current Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired at a sister component that is identified on the Position Vacancy Announcement (PVA), including onboard Title 5 employees that are also current members of MNNG; i.e. Army MNNG to Air MNNG, Air MNNG to Army MNNG.
Area 3: All Minnesota National Guard members currently assigned to the MNANG or to the MNARNG applying for a position within the component in which they are currently assigned. i.e. temporary technician or Traditional Guardsman.
Area 4: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the Minnesota National Guard, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state's National Guard.
Area 5: All individuals able to and willing to become members of the Minnesota National Guard including prior service not currently assigned to a military component and non-prior service US civilians.

This position is located in the Sortie Generation Section of the 133rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron of the 133rd Airlift Wing. Its purpose is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers.
