    .The Primary purpose of the Position is to drive light delivery trucks with typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 4,500 Kilograms 10,000 pounds dispatched to government destinations; and loading and unloading materials.

    Responsibilities

    As a KX - 5, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision.

    • Delivers and/or pick up a variety of printed material, proofs and special items between the Government Printing Office and various governmental and commercial buildings throughout the metropolitan area.
    • Completes pre-trip and post-tip safety check sheets and records necessary information on vehicle manifest in accordance with the office regulations.
    • Performs driver's maintenance and daily inspections in accordance with the established rules and regulations and assure that the trucks are properly serviced and equipped.
    • Washes both the interior and exterior in addition to sweeping the truck as necessary.
    • Gives instruction to helper when a helper is assigned.
    • May drive other sizes and types of vehicles for which qualified and licensed as required by the workload.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Printing Plant Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator).

    These duties require skill in; Ability to perform the work of a Printing Plant Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. (Screen Out). This includes driving delivery vehicles, and handling weights and loads in order to lift and move delivery items. Applicants must have experience and or training of a sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position.

    Note 1: The selectee for this position is required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading delivery vehicles. Additionally, the selectee of this position will drive in various traffic conditions and is exposed to the possibility of accidents and injury.

    Note 2: The selectee must maintain a valid city state driver's license in order to continue in the position.

    Physical - Effort: The Incumbent performs warehousing work and operates materials handling equipment on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs while steering and operating hand and foot controls on the materials handling equipment. Vibrations from truck operations require physical endurance to withstand the strain. Incumbent will required to lift moderately heavy items.
