The Program Manager of Inpatient/Acute Care in the Mental Health Clinical Center, VAMHCS, is responsible for the administrative efficiency, clinical integrity, and effectiveness of the Acute Inpatient mental health program at the Baltimore campus. The Program Manager (Psychologist), Inpatient/Acute Care may delegate Coordinators or other staff to manage component programs on a day-to-day operational basis. The inpatient mental health psychiatric unit is a complex program staffed by a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes but may not be limited to psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, peer support, and pharmacists. The incumbent has broad program management responsibilities, which include the operation and management of key clinical and administrative programs. Responsibilities include development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources; and monitoring of outcomes, using data-driven quality assurance processes. S/he assures a high quality program that meets or exceeds internal and external review criteria (e.g., VHA Handbook requirements, Patient Safety Alerts, etc.), performance measures, clinical reminders, and Joint Commission standards. The Program Manager for Inpatient/Acute Care will monitor patient flow, maintain accurate knowledge of bed availability, advocate for the rights and interests of Veterans, facilitate collaborative relationships with colleagues at other levels of care, facilitate referrals to other inpatient programs, facilitate integration with outpatient programs, track length of stay, identify and problem-solve potential barriers to discharge, monitor discharge rate, identify reasons for delay, and track length of stay data. The Program Manager for Inpatient/Acute Care will also be responsible for maintaining current knowledge of all Environment of Care (EOC) requirements as outlined in the Mental Health Environment of Care (MHEOC) Handbook. The incumbent will facilitate monthly EOC rounds in collaboration with other internal VAMHCS employees, such as Patient Safety, Nursing, and Engineering. The incumbent will be responsible for submitting all MHEOC data through the Patient Safety Assessment Tool (PSAT).
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
