Assists with data collection for outpatients and new admissions
Observes, reports and documents signs and symptoms of patient's general condition.
Provides input into the development, implementation and evaluation of the Nursing Care Plan and/or the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care
Provides direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex problems according to nursing standards and Medical Center policy and procedure. This includes, but is not limited to:
Bathing, showering, oral care, shaving, feeding, turning and positioning, and ambulating.
Collecting and labeling specimens, e.g. sputum, urine, stool.
Performing enterostomal care, perineal care, administering enemas and colostomy irrigation.
Providing bowel/bladder training, applying external urinary devices, performing bladder catheterization.
Providing oral, nasopharyngeal and tracheal suctioning, tracheostomy care, administering oxygen
Providing complex wound care management and treatments which may include Telederm procedures.
Using patient lifting devices, pressure relief mattresses, electronic scales, feeding pumps and IV pumps.
Providing post-motem care per Nursing Patient Care Procedure.
Performs such diagnostic procedures as TPR, B/P, pain screen, pulse oximetry, bladder scannign, I&O, heights, weights, fingersticks, breathalyzer, and EKGs which may also be performed in Telehealth clinics.
Performs narcotic count
Administers oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous medications.
Assisting with physical examinations which may also be involved in telehealth clinics.
Assembling supplies and equipment for medical procedures that may also be performed in telehealth clinics
Ensures all appointments, no-shows, cancelation and rtc are scheduled according to Telemedicine guidelines for all patients seen in the clinic using these modalities.
Ensures all follow-up results notes, future consults, peer reviews and completed using telemedicine protocols.
Delivers virtual and digital technologies which help veterans communicate synchronously and asynchonously with their health care teams and coordinate, track and manager their health care. These technologies may include , but are not limited to, Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), Store and Forward Telehealth (SFT), Video Conferencing, VA Video Connect (VVC), VA Mobiel, My HealthVet (MHV), Home Telehealth (HT), and other telehealth applications.

Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPNs/LVNs or NAs/HTs related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures.
