The incumbent will be assigned to the USDA-ARS Honey Bee Breeding, Genetics and Physiology Research Unit in Baton Rouge, LA. The incumbent will conduct bioinformatics analyses related to whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics and molecular marker development and verification in honey bees. The overarching goal of this work is to increase our understanding of the variation across different stocks of honey bees to better inform decisions for marker development as a selection tool for breeding programs. As such, the incumbent will be able to address broader questions and explore new hypotheses including identifying stock-related genomic signatures, examining differential selection pressure across stocks, and determining genetic under pinnings of traits of interest.

This position requires a recent Ph.D in Biology, or Computational Biology or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
This position has a positive education requirement.
