This position is located in the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. The selectee will either be assigned to Los Angeles and/or San Francisco, CA.
This position has promotion potential to GS-12. Promotion Potential: There is no obligation to provide future promotions to you if you are selected. Future promotions are dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and supervisory approval.

Salary for Los Angeles, CA: GS-07 - $46,815.00 to $60,857.00 per year.
Salary for San Francisco, CA: GS-07 - $49,937.00 to $64,917.00 per year.
The incumbent will perform entry-level duties comprised of soliciting, collecting, and conducting routine analysis of complex data for major economic indicators such as the Producer Price Index and the International Price Program. Involves conducting interviews with corporate officials to negotiate cooperation, select products and services to be used in the indexes, gather product descriptions, sales terms, and prices for the selected products and services. Secure on-going commitments to provide prices in the future for the selected products and services, with a goal to maximize the level of cooperation from company officials.
Occasional travel - At least 25% or more travel may be required.

QualificationsApplicants must meet the Basic Requirement AND Minimum qualifications for each grade they wish to be considered for.
1. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus OR
2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in 1. above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the minimum qualifications to be considered:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-07: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-5, in the Federal Service, OR 1 year of graduate-level education OR superior academic achievement (S.A.A.).
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is experience applying standard practices and techniques to the solicitation of data and reporting information in accordance with requirements and performing routine analysis of collected information in order to discover and rectify common discrepancies.
Applicants may also qualify at the GS-07 level by substituting education for experience. Applicants must possess one (1) full year of graduate level education or S.A.A.
S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
1. Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
3. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society - Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies.
Education must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this position.
