    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military rank and assignment in the District of Columbia Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

    Responsibilities

    As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY), GS-0201-9, you will perform but are not limited to the following duties;
    Serves as the military personnel technician to provide technical and administrative oversight of the following programs: Officer Performance Report (OPR), Retention, Appointments, Officer and Enlisted Promotions, Base/Unit Awards and Decorations, Reenlistment, Personnel Utilization and Management, Quality Force, Customer Assistance and Base Supported Functions. Assists the Director of Readiness and Support and Commander in the overall management of all military personnel programs. Incumbent coordinates directly with State Headquarters and with other military personnel offices as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the DC Air National Guard.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the minimum military rank as specified in this announcement. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a DC Air National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. Applicants applying to this position who exceed the maximum military grade listed on this job announcement MUST submit a statement in writing that they are willing to take an administrative reduction in grade to the advertised military grade on the job announcement for which applying.     The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments.     Other requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.     MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education or training which involves the exercise of analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and personal responsibility, and application of a substantial body of knowledge of principles, concepts and practices applicable to one or more fields of administration or management. Experience using computer and automation systems.
    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Must have at least Twenty-four (24) months experience, education, or training involving the administering, delivering, maintaining, advising, and adapting basic concepts, principles, and theories of Human Resources to the unique organizational, management, and mission requirements.

    Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
