This National Guard position is for a Auditor, Position Description Number T5147000 and is part of the NJ USPFO, National Guard.
As a Auditor, GS-0511-11, you will:
- Serve as an agent of the United States Property and Fiscal Officer on accounting, financial, and managerial issues that require examination by a financial professional
- Conduct risk management reviews and audit compliance procedures
- Develop position papers and fact sheets that interpret and explain accounting reports and data
- Perform survey work to identify potential operating problems
- Draft reports, which present findings, identifies causative situations and recommends corrective action.
- Provide advisory service to management and senior leadership on a wide range of auditing and accounting services
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Must possess a minimum of 1 year equivalent experience as an Auditor at the GS-09 grade This experience includes reviewing program documents as well as previous audit reports to determine compliance with governing regulations; identifies unusual and questionable practices; develops and reports an opinion on the economy and efficiency of the operations and recommends corrective action.
- Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- Combination of education and experience -- at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- 1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law
- 2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination

How You Will Be Evaluated
