NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
As a Health Systems Specialist, GS-0671-9, you will:
- Review, evaluate, and interpret regulatory guidance, policies and procedures
- Responsible for oversight, administration, and implement of policies pertaining to state medical affairs
- Provide guidance to all users through development of policies, procedures and standard operation procedures (SOP)
- Collect, analyze and provide statistical reports
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Compatible Military Assignments:
Selectee has two (2) years to obtain required MOS: 68G, 68W
Must have have at least 12 months on-the-job experience and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
Must have at least 12 months experience and knowledge in the following:
- Basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems
- General clerical procedures; medical terminology; regulations, and directives; medical ethics; health records administration; principles of coding; and anatomy or physiology programs
- Health facilities, health plan management, medical resources, health care information management and information technology, medical logistics, or medical readiness (including aeromedical evacuation)
- Analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems
- Developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs
- Administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical unit or medical activity.
