The multi-disciplinary Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program, led by CNS, seeks new and principled approaches to protect and defend cyberspace against harmful actions by determined adversaries, and to measure the effectiveness of such approaches. The SaTC program, in collaboration with industrial and international partners, takes an interdisciplinary, comprehensive and holistic approach to cybersecurity and privacy research, development, technology transfer, and education that leverages the disciplines of computing, communication and information sciences, economics, education, engineering, mathematics and statistics, and social and behavioral sciences. This position, supporting the Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program, is located within CISE/CNS. The incumbent will work with the CNS Division Director and Deputy Division Director, and with Program Directors within the SaTC program. The position requires strong written and verbal presentation skills, expertise in data analytics, and attention to detail. A working knowledge of the research in cybersecurity and privacy supported by NSF is important. Assignments will include: assisting SaTC program directors in award management (including budget implementation); assisting with organizing external meetings and workshops; collecting, analyzing, and presenting portfolio data; collecting and presenting highlights; and assisting in the development of external presentations and reports. The ability to work collegially, coordinate among multiple stakeholders, and communicate effectively at different levels within the agency, with counterparts in other agencies, and with members of the scientific community and the public at large is essential.
SaTC is a high-profile, multi-directorate program with significant external engagement with the academic research community as well as other federal agencies, industry, and NSF’s counterparts in other nations. The Assistant Program Director/Program Coordinator will be responsible for the handling several aspects of the program’s operations including:
- Supporting oversight of proposal processing and awards, including coordination and management of reverse site visits and milestone reviews;
- Working closely with support staff in entering and collecting data relevant to the management of the program’s activities;
- Maintaining internal repositories and external websites about SaTC;
- Working with division management and SaTC program directors to develop scientific or administrative data that can be used in preparing analytical and interpretive reports and guides to future programmatics and decision making;
- Analyzing performance metrics and other data as needed, including checking results to ensure consistency and quality control;
- Preparing information for communication with the public, including liaison with the CISE communications specialist and NSF’s Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA);
- Coordinating meetings of the SaTC program, including Principal Investigator (PI) meetings and Washington Area Trustworthy Computing Hour (WATCH) talks (e.g., developing agendas, sending invitations, maintaining websites, and attending meetings as needed);
- Working with SaTC program directors and the research community to collect and present highlights; and
- Handling or redirecting questions from the scientific community.
