    This position is located in the Morale Welfare and Recreation Division of Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff, AR

    Pine Bluff Arsenal is located in White Hall, AR with an estimated population of 6,000. The Arsenal is just North of Pine Bluff with a population of approximately 55,000 and home of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Southeast Arkansas College. The area offers museums, water sports, a regional park, and a nature center. The Arsenal is within 40 minutes of the state capital, Little Rock.     Responsibilities

    The following is a brief description of duties and responsibilities:

    1. Serves as lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools (may include water parks and/or beach fronts) and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager or pool supervisor.
    2. Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
    3. Assists with scheduling of staff and programs, tracking inventory and ordering supplies. Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards.

    Conditions of Employment:

    2. Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3.
    3. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
    4. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
    5. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
    6. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
    7. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
    8. Must be able to obtain and maintain a CNACI background investigation.
    9. A physical is required.

    Qualifications

    1. Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguard (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star Guard or Ellis); First Aid. Customer service experience.

    2. Highly Desirable: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification; OR American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification.

    3. In addition, for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Oxygen Administration) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.

    A flexible position (FLEX/INTERMITTENT) has no guaranteed amount of hours, no entitlements to health, life, retirement benefits, or annual or sick leave. Work schedule will be irregular (0-40 hours per week as needed.)
