The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Assist the lead to provide computer science expertise to projects, tasks or efforts providing information technology systems design or integration on Navy enterprise and DoD integrated network or communication environment architectures.
- Provide computer science expertise for programs involving planning, deployment, utilization or improving operation of Enterprise Networks and Communication systems which may include Model Based Systems Engineering or emerging 4th Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE).
- Conduct support or oversight and quality assurance of network, application or cyber solutions.
- Perform and document technical and programmatic Risk Assessment including proposed mitigation strategies.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

This series includes professional positions which primarily involve the application of, or research into, computer science methods and techniques to store, manipulate, transform or present information by means of computer systems. The primary requirements of the work are (a) professional competence in applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations; (b) specialized knowledge of the design characteristics, limitations, and potential applications of systems having the ability to transform information, and of broad areas of applications of computing which have common structures, processes, and techniques; and (c) knowledge of relevant mathematical and statistical sciences.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Evaluation of Education:
Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
ND-04 - In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SCIENTIST experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in planning, deployment, utilization, optimization, or improving operation of Enterprise Networks and Communication systems AND oversee quality assurance of network, application or cyber solutions.
