AREA INFORMATION: Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site is located 25 miles southwest of Williston, North Dakota (population 25, 000 and 24 miles northeast of Sidney, Montana (population 6,000). Hospitals, Medical Facilities and Schools grades K-12 are available in both Williston and Sidney. Due to a local oil boom (The Bakken) it can be difficult to find affordable housing in area, there is possible housing on site.

These positions are Full-Time temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site is March-September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: March 2018.

Interpret the mission of the park through guided tours and public presentations. Provide personal interpretive services as a uniformed park ranger in roving visitor contacts and by staffing the park's visitor center. Provide information to the public and handle cooperative association sales at the visitor center information desk. Demonstrate the art and skill of a mid-19 century occupant or participant at Fort Union Trading Post in period dress, utilizing tools and techniques of the era.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Physical Demands: The work requires standing for long periods of time, walking for long distances, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors resulting in exposure to a variety of weather conditions
