The selectee will serve as a Human Resources Specialist in the Special Agent Support Branch. Typical work assignments include:
- Develops, implements, and maintains the Uniformed Officer and/or Special Agent entry level hiring process, and the merit promotion aspects of the Special Agent career track reassignment process.
- Assists the senior specialist of pay Administration on all issues related to the Uniformed Division Pay system as well as pay issues that impact Special Agents.
- Researches and analyzes issues related to the OPM qualification standards for Special Agent positions and prepares proposals to modify the standard; researches and prepares Standard Operating Procedures for the Branch.
- Drafts reports and recommendations for management, answers inquiries from members of Congress, applicants and the general public; Coordinates the work of the team and assigns areas of responsibility; provides training and expert advice, guidance and assistance to others by solving unique or extremely difficult problems.

QualificationsYou qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $94,796) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Independently researching interpreting, and providing technical guidance to supervisors, managers and employees on applicable human resources laws and regulations regarding law enforcement hiring, coordinating the work of the team, distributing work, and amending or rejecting work not meeting standards; organizing the daily, weekly and monthly priorities for a team, analyzing HR Status Reports; identifying suspense dates for assignments given; and identifying training needs and developing a strategic plan accordingly.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience)Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

How You Will Be Evaluated
Your application will be rated on the extent and quality of your experience, education and training relevant to the duties of the position. - Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding pay determination, geographic pay, locality pay, Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), and promotions in order to provide advice and training to subordinates, and assistance to the senior specialists in the area of Pay Administration.
- Ability to gather, assess, and analyze information in order to resolve difficult and complex problems encountered by team members; evaluate information and material to solve problems encountered by management.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in order to draft reports and make recommendations to managers, supervisors, employees, and high level officials.
