This position is located at the Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, Columbia, Missouri.
The incumbent will assist one or more professional Fish Biologists with Asian Carp and other aquatic invasive species early detection and monitoring to aid in the prevention of the spread of Asian Carp.
The incumbent will serve as a crew lead for field projects working on both large and small lakes and rivers operating fisheries gear. He/she will be expected to perform assignments independently.
NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY position not to exceed one year. At management's discretion, this appointment may be extended one additional year.

To meet the minimum requirements for Biological Science Technician (Fisheries), GS-07, you must have one of the following:
A. At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include collecting, weighing, and measuring fish and aquatic organisms; collecting and recording biological and physical data; operating, repairing, and maintaining equipment and materials used in stream and lake surveys and treatments; and using a variety of tools including maps, compass, GPS, computer, and other resources to navigate both in populated and remote areas. (Your resume must include starting and ending dates of employment and the number of hours worked per week.)

B. Completed one year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

C. Possess a combination of education and experience as described above. To compute this combination, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience requirement. Then, determine your education as a percentage of the education requirement. Add the two percentages; the total must equal 100 percent to qualify.
