    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will develop and propose department-wide standards and criteria to guide USDA continuity programs. The incumbent will serve as the continuity manager for continuity activations and develop and implement policies and procedures for a comprehensive continuity program including training and exercises. As the supervisor for continuity, the incumbent will ensure the ability of USDA to perform mission essential functions. The incumbent will lead OHSEC support to the USDA Emergency Relocation Group and will be responsible for coordinating USDA actions and delivery of mission essential functions during a continuity event.  The incumbent will develop and oversee implementation of evaluation and corrective action programs for USDA’s continuity program. The incumbent will provide technical guidance for development and establishment of policies, procedures, and guidelines for use in evaluation and corrective programs to ensure that significant deficiencies in continuity capabilities are identified and corrective action is appropriately assigned and tracked. The incumbent will collaborate with USDA agencies and staff offices on training programs and continuity exercises. The incumbent serves as supervisor for the division staff; exercises administrative and human resource management responsibilities and also establish guidelines and be responsible for the full range of performance management for supervised staff members.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    In the event of an emergency, USDA’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Coordination (OHSEC) to include the incumbent of this position may be subject to 24 hour on-call availability. This service may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites that require functioning under intense physical and mental stress.

    • A resume should be provided. It should include relevant work experience (start/end dates stated in month/year, description of duties and salary), applicable education at a minimum, and your contact information.
