This position is located in the Auditing Division, Information Technology and Financial Management Group which is responsible for managing projects to include analyzing and evaluating information systems strategy, policies and procedures, management practices, and organization structures, leading information system control assurance reviews or analytical reviews of data sets, computer security audits, assessments, and evaluations. Also, plan and conduct risks assessments and maintain liaison with appropriate Federal and non-governmental entities with respect to IT assurance matters.

As an IT Auditor in the Auditing Division you will be responsible for:
- Analyzing and evaluating computer systems, IT methods, IT controls and strategies, policies and procedures, management practices, and organizational structures of IT systems and organizations.
- Developing audit approach and criteria analysis using Government Auditing Standards (GAS) to enable audits or reviews of major SBA and contractor IT systems to include operational methods, management controls and risk management practices.
- Performing computer security assessments and evaluations (1) sensitive and complex hardware and software application platforms; (2) network and telecommunications infrastructure; (3) operational practices; (4) utilization of information system resources and (5) system development and acquisition.
- Writing major sections of audit reports ensuring technical accuracy of the findings and compliance with established reporting standards.
- Communicating audit results in team environment to internal management and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to and ensuring compliance with established quality assurance standards and overseeing the work of less experienced personnel.
- Participating in departmental initiatives and internal process improvement projects as required.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is a statutorily created independent entity that works to prevent waste, fraud and abuse in SBA programs and operations, and to promote economy and efficiency in those programs. This work is done primarily through audits and investigations. The OIG also consults with Congress about ongoing and proposed new programs, laws, and regulations. In carrying out its audit mission, the OIG issues and contributes to reports, advisories, briefings, and congressional testimonies with recommendations focused on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of SBA programs in support of the agency's mission. The Assistant Inspector General for Auditing is responsible for overseeing these engagements which involve all SBA programs as well as other high profile operations such as acquisitions and information technology.
