This position is with the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC), the Navys principal agency filling the Navys needs for historical and heritage services. As an official Department of the Navy Museum, the Great Lakes Naval Museum's mission is to select, collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the United States Navy with particular emphasis on the Navy's only "boot camp" at Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, Illinois.
· Plan, research, and prepare original studies, monographs, briefings, booklets, articles, scripts, chronologies, exhibit labels, and other products that furnish detailed historical background and perspective to current and historic Navy issues.
· Respond to historical inquiries from the command, other Navy and Defense Department units and organizations, veteran organizations, and the general public.
· Provide interpretive and intellectual support for public outreach functions to include permanent and temporary exhibits, multimedia presentations, online features, tours, education programs, history reenactments, and historical presentations.
