To qualify for this position, you must possess the basic qualifying experience listed below as well as selective factors as described in the occupational/assessment questionnaire.
Applicants must be physically fit and, as required in Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbook X-118C, and must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the elements listed in Section 25 of the Online Occupational Questionnaire to perform the duties of the position at the level for which they are applying. Qualification requirement emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through your experience shown in your written application, that you possess sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must be contiguous to the area: reside within 35 miles of Badlands National Park boundaries, for the last 2 years (based on entry on duty date, April 2014)

Physical Effort: The nature of this position requires climbing on ladders, scaffolds, and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require considerable standing, stooping, bending, and kneeling. It requires working overhead or in stretched, cramped, awkward, tiring, and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items up to 40 pounds unassisted.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Outside work exposes the employee to inclement weather, which includes, heat, cold, rain, and wind. Work entails frequent exposure to dirt, dust, and fumes may be present. Tasks require the employee to work under structures and on scaffolding, ladders, rooftops. Worker is subject to cuts, abrasions, and insect bites and wearing protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
Driver's license: Applicants must possess a valid state driver's license. This position requires that you operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. A valid State driver's license is required. As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit a completed GSA Form 3607, Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. If you are tentatively selected for employment in this position, you will be required to complete GSA Form 3607 and submit the above State issued documents. Your employment, after your tentative selection, will be contingent upon receipt of these documents in a timely manner and that those documents establish, to the satisfaction of the selecting official, that you possess a valid driver's license.
Will be required to work nights, early mornings, rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Applicants will be rated according to responses to the occupational questionnaire. A review of the resume and other supporting documentation of the highest scoring applicants will be conducted and compared against the responses to the occupational questionnaire to determine qualifications. Applicants will be rated according responses to the occupational questionnaire. The score, based on responses to the questionnaire, is a measure of the degree to which an applicant's background matches the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position. If, after reviewing your resume and or supporting documentation, a determination is made that qualifications and/or experience have been inflated, your score can and will be adjusted to more accurately reflect your abilities. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
Category rating procedures will be used to rate and rank candidates. Candidates will be ranked into 3 categories:
Best Qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position.
Well Qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job.
Qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all of the requirements of the job.
VETERANS PREFERENCE: Veteran's preference applies to category rating. Within each quality category, veteran's preference eligibles are listed first, including CP, CPS, XP, and TP. In addition, veterans who have a 10% or more service-connected disability, (CP or CPS) are placed at the top of the highest quality category.
