As a Travel Management Specialist located in the Office of Financial Management, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support of travel management for civil service and commissioned personnel.

·         Provides guidance and assistance on the interpretation and compliance of operating policies, procedures and guidelines regarding travel management.

·         Monitors monthly travel audits to assure there is no abuse of the travel cards.

·         Reviews travel orders to verify payments and proper fees are applied.

·         Examines and verifies adequacy and completeness of travel vouchers.

·         Issues travel cards.

·         Provides technical assistance and advice in training staff for travel management.


To qualify for the Travel Management Specialist GS-07 position you must have: 

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in Federal service, providing assistance with travel requisitions ensuring compliance with operating policies, procedures and guidelines; preparing travel authorization and/or travel vouchers; and assisting staff with processing vouchers for reimbursement; OR at least one full year of graduate level education (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR Superior Academic Achievement (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR combination of specialized experience and education with a total percentage equaling at least 100 percent. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)

To qualify for the Travel Management Specialist GS-09 position you must have: 

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in Federal service, providing guidance with travel requisitions ensuring compliance with operating policies, procedures and guidelines; monitoring travel transactions to assure no abuse of travel cards; and troubleshooting discrepancies with reimbursement of travel vouchers; OR at least a master’s or equivalent graduate degree (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR at least two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR LL.B. or J.D., if related (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR combination of specialized experience and education with a total percentage equaling at least 100 percent. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)

Foreign Education:   If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.  For further information, click on  foreign education.
