JOB SUMMARY:

As a Travel Management Specialist located in the Office of Financial Management, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support of travel management for civil service and commissioned personnel.

DUTIES:

·         Provides guidance and assistance on the interpretation and compliance of operating policies, procedures and guidelines regarding travel management.

·         Monitors monthly travel audits to assure there is no abuse of the travel cards.

·         Reviews travel orders to verify payments and proper fees are applied.

·         Examines and verifies adequacy and completeness of travel vouchers.

·         Issues travel cards.

·         Provides technical assistance and advice in training staff for travel management.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

To qualify for the Travel Management Specialist GS-07 position you must have: 

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in Federal service, providing assistance with travel requisitions ensuring compliance with operating policies, procedures and guidelines; preparing travel authorization and/or travel vouchers; and assisting staff with processing vouchers for reimbursement; OR at least one full year of graduate level education (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR Superior Academic Achievement (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR combination of specialized experience and education with a total percentage equaling at least 100 percent. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)

To qualify for the Travel Management Specialist GS-09 position you must have: 

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in Federal service, providing guidance with travel requisitions ensuring compliance with operating policies, procedures and guidelines; monitoring travel transactions to assure no abuse of travel cards; and troubleshooting discrepancies with reimbursement of travel vouchers; OR at least a master’s or equivalent graduate degree (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR at least two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR LL.B. or J.D., if related (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR combination of specialized experience and education with a total percentage equaling at least 100 percent.
