JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent must be suitable for employment and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

 

This position is located in the Human Resources Division, Support Services Directorate.  The incumbent will be responsible for providing military human resources support to military personnel serving in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and the Army National Guard who are assigned to the Selective Service System.

DUTIES:

  • Reviews, corrects, processes, and tracks a variety of administrative and personnel actions for each of the military services impacting SSS.
  • Maintains and retrieves personnel data using the Reserve Forces Automated Personnel System (RFAPS).
  • Notifies management and impacted organizations of changes to military service regulations, directives, and policies.
  • Reviews fitness/efficiency reports and awards requests to ensure compliance with parent military service requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    GS-09:  Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for this position:

    1. One year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service) reviewing, processing, and tracking military administrative and personnel actions; maintaining and retrieving personnel data using an automated system; conducting fact finding and recommending solutions to military human resources issues; and advising military personnel and/or management of changes in military service regulations, directives, and policies; or

    2. A master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; or

    3. A combination of the required experience and education listed above.  Your percentage of the required education and experience must total to 100%.

    Time-in-Grade:  Current and former permanent Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level of the grade level being filled for this position.
