JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Washington, DC in the Bureau for Asia, Office of the Assistant Administrator (AA/ASIA).

DUTIES:

You will exercise exclusive control over the supervisor's calendar, with complete authority for time commitments. Schedule meetings and make arrangements such as preparing agendas, notifying participants, and arranging luncheons and similar matters. Develop background information and compose drafts of introduction and speeches to be presented at various meetings by the supervisor.  Ensure that commitments made at the meetings and conferences are addressed. Advise the supervisor of important office matters that arise during his/her absence.

 

You will read incoming correspondence, publications, regulations, and directives that may affect the organization. Determine the ones that can be acted upon personally and takes necessary action. Obtain clarification of instructions from originating offices or appropriate focal points on own initiative. Bring significant items in reports, files, and correspondence to the supervisor's attention.  Establish control records on incoming correspondence and action documents, following up on work in-progress to ensure timely action. 


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service. This experience could have been gained in the military, public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.  Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position includes: Coordinating the work of the office with the work of other offices and for recognizing the need for such coordination in various circumstances;

 

CTAP/ICTAP candidates may apply if well qualified.  Well-qualified means an eligible employee who possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities which clearly exceed the minimum requirements of the position. A well-qualified employee must meet the qualification and eligibility requirements of the position, including any medical qualifications, suitability, and minimum education and experience requirements, meet all selective factors (where applicable); meet quality ranking factors above the minimum level, which equates to a score of 88 or higher in the online assessment; be physically qualified with reasonable accommodation to perform the essential duties of the position; meet any special qualifying U.S. OPM-approved conditions; AND be able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry without additional training.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

USAID must be able to conduct reference checks as part of its assessment process.  Applicants who do not permit reference checks from previous employers may be disqualified.

 

Category Rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three categories (Gold, Silver, Bronze) depending on your experience and education related to this position. Veterans' preference is applied after applicants are assessed. Preference-eligibles will be listed at the top of their assigned category and considered before non-preference-eligibles in that category. Qualified preference-eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10% or more will be listed at the top of the highest category.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

Applicants are evaluated using an automated applicant assessment system.  After determining basic eligibility and qualifications, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to identify the best qualified applicants to be referred to the hiring manager for consideration and possible interviews.  We will notify you of the outcome after each of these steps.  After making a tentative job offer, we will conduct a suitability/security background investigation.  A final job offer is contingent upon a favorable suitability determination and a favorable SECRET level security clearance investigation and determination.
