DUTIES:

This position serves as the Clinical Director for the Nevada Skies Youth Wellness Center.  Nevada Skies is a 16-bed residential treatment center that provides Native American adolescents culturally relevant substance abuse treatment and other behavioral health interventions.  The 90-day therapeutic program uses a multi-disciplinary care treatment team approach to treat youth between the ages of 12-18.

  • Provide administrative leadership for a residential treatment program: ensure mission and goals are met, meet accrediting and regulatory standards, exercise fiscal responsibilities for program allowances, coordinate Medicaid collection activities to assure maximum collections, and serve as a Project Officer for contracts.
  • Supervise a multi-disciplinary staff of professionals including substance abuse couneslors, family therapists, and other non-professional staff: ensure staff are appropriately selected, utilized, appraised and developed; adjust approach to suit different people and situations; review and approve leave requests; plan and establish work schedules; manage workforce diversity; manage and resolve conflicts.
  • Provide full range of clinical psychological services for the clients including: testing, evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and socialized treatment modalities.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

All applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements for the GS-0180, Clinical Psychology series:

  1. A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited educational institution; AND
  2. Selective Placement Factor: A current, unrestricted, state license as a Clinical Psychologist.


Applicants who meet the above basic requirements may qualify for the following grade levels if they meet the additional experience listed below for the GS-13 level:

1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing psychodiagnosis and psychotherapy at a level of professional maturity for the full range of mentally disturbed patient normally found in psychiatric or general medical hospitals or in community mental health centers:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and present diagnostic and treatment recommendations to the professional team which includes physicians, social workers, and nursing staff;
  • Particiapte as full members of the team in formulating patient treatment plans, contributing knowledge of psychological and personality assessment and evaluation;
  • Familiarity with the customs, traditions and tribal structure of Native American culture in order to assist in delivery of a Native American traditional/spiritual based chemical dependency program is preferred;
  • Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience over a behavioral health program is preferred.
