This position may be filled at the GS-11, GS-12, or GS-13 grade levels. Your salary and grade will be determined by a Professional Standards Board (PSB). The PSB is a peer review process. The PSB will review your individual qualifications, education, professional training/internship(s) and professional experience to determine the most appropriate salary and grade based on your individual accomplishments.
If you are selected for this position you will serve as the Local Recovery Coordinator (LRC), which is a psychologist located in the Psychosocial Recovery and Rehabilitation Center (PRRC), Psychology Service, Mental Health Service Line, of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). You will assist with implementation of policies and procedures from the National Recovery Coordinator (NRC) and facilitate implementation of recovery oriented services in Mental Health programs across STVHCS. You will be responsible for coordinating the integration of the recovery principles into mental health programs as outlined in the VA Uniform Mental Health Services Handbook. Also, you will be expected to consult with Mental Health staff to ensure that services focus on wellness, build on strength, and are tailored to the individual veterans needs. You will be responsible for promoting a partnership in planning and decision making between Veterans and their providers and promotes veterans to accept personal responsibility. You will use the best evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery practices and promoting the use of peer providers and other Veterans who support each others recovery journey. You will assure that treatment is veteran focused and congruent with the veterans needs.
Clinical Responsibilities include:
· Providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including the use of psychological testing for patients within STVHCS
· Performing psychological evaluations for individuals with SMI for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations. These evaluations employ a comprehensive diagnostic interview, review of available records, collateral contact when available, as well as objective and cognitive tests when indicated
· Providing a range of psychological therapeutic interventions with individuals with SMI utilizing empirically supported modalities when indicated
· Consulting with and serving as a resource for other professional personnel concerning the need for, evaluation of, and development of psychological services in STVHCS
