The incumbent will serve as a TV Master Control Technician in the Operations Directorate

INTRODUCTION TO AGENCY

The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency, is an exciting, multi cultural organization that encompasses all U.S. civilian international broadcasting. The BBG is comprised of the Voice of America, which delivers high quality, multimedia programming in 44 languages to audiences worldwide; the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti); the International Broadcasting Bureau, which provides transmission, administrative, and other support services; and three grantee organizations - Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty; the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free Asia. KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor all incoming and outgoing satellite feeds
  • Assure programming material airs as scheduled
  • Maintaining quality control of audio and video signals
  • Operate computer based broadcast automation applications
  • Operate server and tape-based video and audio playback equipment
  • Resolve technical issues and ensure standards compliance


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11, which is related directly to this line of work.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Examples are:  Experience in operating server and computer based broadcast equipment, proven experience handling quality control of audio and video signals prior to transmission, coordinating satellite system feeds for recording or use in live studio productions, knowledge of broadcast standards in order to adjust broadcast systems using diagnostic tools such as waveform monitors and, audio analyzers, analyze and solve technical problems and experience in multi-channel automated TV Master Control and Broadcast Operations Center at a Television or Cable facility.


Requirements

Suitability Determination: If selected, you will be subject to a security investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment. The security investigation will include, among other aspects, a review of your credit and legal history.
