The Bureau of Land Management is looking for temporary employees to work as Fire Logistics Dispatchers in Hines and Vale, OR and Colville, WA.

A Fire Logistics Dispatcher (GS-04) provides a wide range of fire dispatch support functions, such as: receives fire location information and notifies supervisor, processes resource orders, informs supervisor of logistical support activities, inputs data into a number of fire-related computer applications, and records and maintains communication logs. A Fire Logistics Dispatcher (GS-05) is a dispatcher in support of fire suppression activities. Serves as a dispatcher, receiving, filling, and tracking resource requests or fire and non-fire emergency incidents. Receives resources orders from the field for personnel, equipment, aircraft, and supplies; determines location, land status and current fire information making recommendation regarding orders. Inputs data into a number of fire-related computer applications. Also, processes and interprets weather information.


To qualify for a GS-04,you must meet at least one of the following:
- 12 months of general experience; OR
- 2 years of education above the high school level, (60 semester/90 quarter   
    hoursin an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college
    or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for
    approximately 72 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school); OR
- an equivalent combination of the education and experience specified above.

To qualify for a GS-05, you must meet at least one of the following:
- 12 months of equivalent to the GS-4 level duties. Examples of specialized work
     experience include working with dispatch and dispatch office functions  
     related to wildland fire suppression activities. Work should have included
     experience such as determining priorities, and selecting alternative resources
     while performing dispatch operations duties independently. OR
- successful completion of a 4 year course of study above high school leading to a
     bachelor's degree in any field,
- an equivalent combination of the education and experience specified above.

GENERAL WORK EXPERIENCE: is considered any type of work that demonstrates the applicants ability to do the work of the position. This does not have to be work in wildland fire. For more information regarding basic qualifications and experience click here.

DRUG TESTING: BLM POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING. If selected for a random drug test, it must be completed prior to beginning work. The drug test will be provided at Government direction and expense. Once hired, employees are also subject to random drug testing during employment.

Temporary employees hired in wildland fire or wildland fire support positions are eligible for the following:
•  Annual and Sick Leave
•  Depending on tour of duty – Sunday, holiday, shift differential and/ or hazard pay
•  Paid federal holidays
•  Participation in the Federal Employees Health Benefit (FEHB) program - Employees electing to participate in the FEHB will be responsible for the employee share of the premium while on the official agency roles.  After separating from federal employment, employees will be offered to continue participation in FEHB under the Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) option. Employees electing to continue coverage under the TCC provision will be responsible for the full premium amount plus a 2% administration fee.
