Basic Qualification Requirements for a Social Scientist, GS-0101.
Have at least a bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science; or related discipline appropriate to the position from an accredited college or university.
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Have at least a bachelor's degree with a major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position from an accredited college or university.
Basic Qualification Requirements for a Statistician (Health), GS-1530.
Have at least a bachelor's degree that includes 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements of business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.
Have a combination of education and experience of courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience includes a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
Additional Qualification Requirements for an Interdisciplinary Social Scientist/Health Scientist/Statistician (Health), GS-0101/0601/1530-11.
Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service, implementing surveys; statistically analyzing or evaluating health care or long-term care survey or administrative data; and preparing reports relevant to health care or long-term care data.
Have three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. This determination is made based on normal course loads for a full year of study in the graduate program. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours will satisfy the one year of full-time study requirement.
Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above. To combine education and experience, determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Additional Qualification Requirements for an Interdisciplinary Social Scientist/Health Scientist/Statistician (Health), GS-0101/0601/1530-12.
Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, designing and implementing surveys; solving operational or methodological challenges within survey data collection or administrative data processes; performing and interpreting statistical analyses of health care or long-term care survey or administrative data; and preparing reports of results relevant to health care or long-term care data.

Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, developing and implementing surveys for health care or long-term care research; identifying and solving operational or methodological challenges within survey data collection or administrative data processes; designing, performing, and interpreting statistical analyses of health care or long-term care survey or administrative data; and leading the preparation of reports of results relevant to health care or long-term care data.
