NOTE:  Not to exceed 13 months but may be extended up to 4 years.    
This individual will supervise and complete a clinical research study with Veterans in the MIRECC.   S/he must have skills in assessment and treatment of suicidal patients.  Evidence of research conducted in psychology including papers submitted for publication and presentations would be beneficial, as this is a clinical research position.  Job duties include responsibility for patient care issues related to reducing suicide risk (including meeting with patients outside of the medical facility); consulting with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues related to suicide risk; assisting in developing and maintaining a grant program of research in the areas known to contribute to veteran suicide and/or negative psychiatric outcomes; participation in assessment and data management; consultation with MIRECC colleagues as needed on issues of research design, data analysis, and interpretation; preparation of research results for publication in scientific journals and for presentation at local, national and international scientific meetings; and development of additional research grants and submission to appropriate public and private agencies.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.



    U.S. citizenship. 
    Education. Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by APA.
    Licensure. Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
    English language Proficiency.
    Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
    Must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA


    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11 LEVEL: None beyond the basic requirements.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-12 LEVEL: In addition to the basic requirements at the GS-11 level, at least 1 year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level.  Individuals assigned as GS-12 psychologists may be in the process of obtaining licensure at the independent practice level.  If unlicensed, the individual must be supervised by a licensed psychologist and the experience and supervision must meet the standards for psychology licensure.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-13 LEVEL:   Requires a minimum of 1 year of post-doctoral degree experience.  This experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level.

    NOTE: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.  Please provide such documentation on resume or VA Form 10-2850c.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   The work requires standing, walking, light lifting and carrying of items. The work also requires the use of both hands, the ability to read without strain, and the ability to hear (aid permitted).
