You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience defined as:
- Completion of microbiological pesticide efficacy assessments
Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in antimicrobial pesticide microbiology/efficacy assessments; 2) Skill in assessing antimicrobial pesticide behavior and efficacy in public health and non public health settings; 3) Skill in exposure assessment and risk characterization encompassing pesticides; 4) Knowledge of the principles of microbiology and infectious diseases; 5) Knowledge of biological pesticide industry developments and intended commercial applications; 6) Ability to lead a team to meet organizational goals; 7) Skill in oral communication; and 8) Skill in written communication.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in
A. Degree: microbiology; or biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included at least 20 semester hours in microbiology and other subjects related to the study of microorganisms, and 20 semester hours in the physical and mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, and college algebra, or their equivalent.
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
If you are selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Form prior to your first day of employment and annually thereafter.
If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.
