JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
As a Research Psychologist in the Leadership Research, Assessment and Doctrine Division of the Center for Army Leadership, the incumbent is responsible for executing behavioral science research in order to assess  and improve the performance of military and civilian personnel in the areas of leadership and leader development at Fort Leavenworth.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:

Incumbent serves as a research psychologist in the Leadership Research, Assessment and Doctrine Division of the Center for Army Leadership.  The incumbent has responsibility for execution of the behavioral science research in one or more of the following functional areas, human performance, industrial and organizational psychology, cognitive psychology, psychological tests and measurement, personality and learning theory, experimental, motivational and physiological psychology, social psychology, etc., in order to assess and improve the performance of military and civilian personnel in the areas of leadership and leader development.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas: 

  • Skill in Conducting Problem Analysis
  • Knowledge in Conducting Job Analysis/Requirements
  • Skill in Designing Studies and Research
  • Knowledge in Developing Assessments and Measurements
  • Ability to Communicate

 

Specialized Experience:

To qualify for GS-12, applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-011).  Specialized experience is defined as work such as conducting cognitive studies, planning/organizing research, laboratory/field testing, preparing program proposals or applying advanced statistical techniques.

To qualify for GS-13, applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-12). Specialized experience is defined as work such as conducting cognitive studies, planning/organizing research, laboratory/field testing, preparing program proposals, applying advanced statistical techniques, delivering scientific briefings or managing fiscal and other resources.  

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction. 

Time in Grade Restriction: Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).

A selection may be made at either grade level.  If filled at the GS-12, promotion to the GS-13 is up to the discretion of management.


 


Positive Education Requirement:
