KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:

Performs duties of a journeyman maintenance mechanic which involve maintaining, repairing, installing, modifying, troubleshooting, testing, and inspecting of real and personal property in trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, pipefitting, welding, and mechanical.

WORK SCHEDULE: FULL TIME

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Work requires standing, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling and stooping in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift objects exceeding 40 pounds.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Time-in-Grade Restriction - Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service.

You will be rated on the following Job Elements as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

1. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision

2. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.

3. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)

4. Use of measuring instruments

5. Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)

6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment

7. Knowledge of materials
