This position may be filled at the GS-11, GS-12, or GS-13 grade level. Your salary and grade will be determined by a Professional Standards Board (PSB). The PSB is a peer review process. The PSB will review your individual qualifications, education, professional training/internship(s) and professional experience to determine the most appropriate salary and grade based on your individual accomplishments.
If selected for this position you will serve as a staff psychologist in the Compensation and Pension Clinic at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) Frank Tejeda Outpatient Clinic. In this position you will complete full diagnostic evaluations for a variety of mental health disorders, providing psychological assessment as needed to complete these tasks.
Clinical responsibilities include:
- providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including the use of psychological testing
- performing psychological evaluations for individuals with mental health and medical disorders for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations (evaluations employ a comprehensive diagnostic interview, review of available records, collateral contact when available, as well as objective and cognitive tests when indicated)
- providing a range of psychological therapeutic interventions with individuals with mental health and medical disorders utilizing empirically supported modalities when indicated
- consulting with and serving as a resource for other professional personnel concerning the need for, evaluation of, and development of psychological services
