This Continuous Open Announcement (COA) announcement allows acceptance of applications throughout the year with eligible applicants being placed on the COA register and referred for consideration as vacancies occur. The first Cut-off date for receipt/referral of applications to be considered for available vacant positions will be 5/4/12. Other Cut-off dates will be established based on the date requests for List of Eligibles are received to fill other vacancies. 10 pt. Appointment: May be Permanent, Temporary, Excepted Time-Limited, or Term with tour of duty of Full-Time, Part-Time or Intermittent. The Agency has option of extending Time-Limited and Term appointments for up to a maximum of four years. Temporary positions NTE 12 months or less are subject to termination at any time. The Agency has option of extending Temporary position appointments for up to a maximum of two years. Positions filled by Commissioned Corps will be Full Time Permanent Positions only.

Possible other locations throughout Oklahoma and Kansas.

FACILITIES: The two Oklahoma City Area Hospitals located in Claremore and Lawton, range from 25-50 beds. Full services are available at all the hospitals including general medicine and surgery, pediatrics, and outpatient service. Obstetrics and gynecology are available in Claremore. Health Centers located throughout the Area provide ambulatory care service. Public Health Nursing programs are located within each of the hospitals and health centers.

 

POSITION DETAILS: Starting Salaries: (May be adjusted for Present/Former Federal Employees)
Title 5: GS-14: $104,458 per Annum; GS-15: $113,735.00
Title 38: Salary may range from $104,458 per to $195,000

DUTIES:

  • Serves as a Medical Officer by performing diagnosis and treatment of patients commensurate within OB/GYN specialty training, education and experience.
  • Provides direct medical services including diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic services within OB/GYN to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Ensures appropriate medical records are maintained and updated.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and families with multiple health problems and of different backgrounds.

  • QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    Applicants must possess and provide documentation of the following basic requirements:

    A Degree as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).] Must submit official or unofficial copy of transcripts showing doctorate degree conferred. If applicable, must supply ECFMG or fifth pathway certificate.

    AND

    Residency Certification: At least four years of supervised experience in OB/GYN providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 4-year internship or four years of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training). Include only those internships, residencies, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Must submit copies of all internship, residency, and/or fellowship certificates totaling four years.

    Applicants that are currently enrolled in their 4th year of internship, residency, or fellowship program and are within 9 months or less of graduation may be referred out. In this circumstance applicants must submit a letter from their internship, residency, or fellowship program stating they are in good standing and their expected graduation date.

    AND

    Medical License: A current, non-temporary, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

    AND

    GS-14: The residency requirements listed above meet the qualifications for this grade level.

    OR

    GS-15: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Experience independently performing in-depth care of patients by examining, diagnosing, and treating patients in obstetrical and gynecology, reviewing medical history, interpreting results such as electrocardiograms, documenting care in an electronic health record and preparing patient's records for transfer to a referral hospital. Acting as a preceptor in obstetrical and gynecology.

     

    Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed at least one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

    This position requires that you obtain and maintain clinical privileges. If they are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee may be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from the Federal services.

    WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

    First notification: Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
