Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
Education: Graduate of a school or professional nursing approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed. Master's in Nursing from a college/university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). [In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration (licensure) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.]
Experience: Experience will be considered by the Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary. Experience will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following nine dimensions of nursing: practice, quality of care, performance, education/career development, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and resource utilization.
Registration/Licensure: A current, full, active and unrestrictive registration/licensure as a Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
Certification: Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Prescriptive Authority is required.
English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Physical Standards: Must pass a pre-employment examination per VA Directive and Handbook 5019.

Drug Testing: This is a drug testing designated position. If you are tentatively selected for this position you may be subject to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to final selection and will also be subject to random drug testing during employment.
Background Investigation: Appointment to this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the required background investigation.
