DUTIES:

This position is located in the Acquisition & Materiel Management Service (A&MMS).    Performs duties as a materials handler in the Storage and Distribution Section (warehousing/supply function), for the   Pacific Islands Health Care System (PIHCS), Honolulu, HI servicing the Veterans Benefits Administration, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu Veterans Center, and clinics on Oahu, outer islands, Guam, American Samoa, and satellite activities on Saipan.   Duties encompass the full spectrum of warehouse/supply functions.   Stores, issues, and delivers supplies, equipment, and furniture.   Conducts warehouse inventories, maintaining tally listings during the count.   Assists in determining the reasons for overages, shortages, or misplaced items.   Operates electric, gasoline, or diesel powered forklift trucks in order to lift loads weighing less than 10,000 lbs.   Operates stake body trucks, light trucks, passenger vans, and other general purpose vehicles .   Operates an automated shipping and receiving system. Provides driver/courier service for the station; pick-up and delivery of medical records, charts, and supplies.   


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Working Conditions:  Will work in a warehouse setting, office, or in a vehicle.   Subject to heat, damp, drafty or poorly lighted areas.   May work on open docks or storage yards.   Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy.   Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls or injury.   Work may require wearing of protective clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, rubber aprons.   May be subject to exposure from toxins or chemical fumes.

Required to walk, stand, bend, squat, lift, and sit in performance of duties.   Independently lift items weighing up to 70 lbs; with assistance of other workers, may handle items weighing over 70 lbs.   Incumbent required to push loaded carts weighing several hundred pounds, maneuver these carts onto or in/out of service elevators, and sometimes through crowed work areas.   Work may require heavy exertion for extended periods of time.

Requires the operation of both powered and non-powered material handling equipment, as well as light trucks to deliver and pick up materials. 

Requires the operation of small hand held and power tools such as hammers, saws, screw drivers, and wrenches.

Requires the use computers to operate an automated shipping and receiving system.
