As a Licensed Provider for the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will practice independently in the provision of psychological services, engage in professional and scientific work which relates to behavior, capacities, personality, interests, emotions and mental disorders.consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate.
This Clinical Psychologist position serves as a psychologist associated with the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PTSD PCT). The PCT is an outpatient program with an emphasis on improving the quality of life of PTSD-diagnosed Veterans. The PCT Program utilizes individual, group, and marital therapy interventions to assist Veterans. The psychologist utilizes evidence-based treatments: Prolonged Exposure or Cognitive Processing Therapy. As the PTSD/SUD psychologist, other established psychotherapies, i.e., Seeking Safety, are used as well. In addition, the psychologist uses a variety of assessment instruments and skills to determine appropriate diagnoses and to specify appropriate treatment modalities.
The individual works with Veterans to develop individualized treatment plans to develop new behaviors in response to post-traumatic stress
symptoms that promote value-driven behavioral responses. The psychologist is responsible for: program and policy development and
implementation; assists interdisciplinary team members in the implementation of program philosophy; staff education; maintaining high
standards through the review and judicious application of evidence based practices, practice guidelines, and best practice methodology;
assisting with compliance with the Northeast Program Evaluation Center (NEPEC).
