THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
A Chaplain Assistant, GS-0303-07, Provides preliminary interviews and crisis debriefings for Military Technicians and Active Guard/Reserve personnel employed within the state ARNG/ANG. Publicizes availability of chaplain professional services. Coordinates care with drill status chaplains and civilian pastoral entities to ensure services are provided according to the religious beliefs and needs of employees. Maintains contact with drill status Chaplains/Chaplain's Assistants, "home-town" pastors, local church groups, and benevolent organizations. Provides referral services for crisis care of full-time support/deployed personnel and their families as well as personnel undergoing training. Visits organizations throughout the state, on a periodic basis, to assess chaplain training requirements of full-time support personnel and evaluates the religious support program of drill status ministry teams. Evaluates the religious support requirements of operations and deployments/mobilizations. Coordinates the logistical needs of religious ministry personnel with deploying unit/personnel and supporting organizations. Reviews mobilization planning and operational documents/mobilizations. Coordinates the logistical needs of religious ministry personnel with deploying unit/personnel and supporting organizations. Reviews mobilization planning and operational documents for appropriate religious support provisions and makes recommendations for changes to state level regulations and operating procedures. Provides material for religious instructional activities to be conducted by the Chaplain/Chaplain's Assistants during inactive and active duty training periods. May conduct religious customs and culture briefings. Maintains library of religious and quality of life instructional materials. Prepares and maintains public relations materials. Assists in preparations for special events and seasonal religious services. May be required to provide religious support activities for worship services, funeral services and the administration of ordinances. Prepares and maintains religious accouterments, facilities and equipment. May be required to administer and manage nonappropriated funds and provide for safeguard of religious offerings. Maintains religious data lists for personnel assigned to unit/organizations within the State ARNG/ANG. Maintains statistical records and prepares required reports. Monitors and assists in programming required professional, functional and specialty training for assigned ministry personnel. Operates and maintains office automation and multimedia systems. Establishes and maintains the office filing system and prepares correspondence as required. Assists in recruitment and retention efforts for ministry positions throughout the state. Area 2: Current Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired at a sister component that is identified on the Position Vacancy Announcement (PVA), including onboard Title 5 employees that are also current members of MNNG; i.e. Army MNNG to Air MNNG, Air MNNG to Army MNNG.
Area 3: All Minnesota National Guard members currently assigned to the MNANG or to the MNARNG applying for a position within the component in which they are currently assigned. i.e. temporary technician or Traditional Guardsman.
Area 4: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the Minnesota National Guard, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state's National Guard.
Area 5: All individuals able to and willing to become members of the Minnesota National Guard including prior service not currently assigned to a military component and non-prior service US civilians.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position.
