Major Duties: The Chief of the Diagnostic Imaging Service will participate in both the full practice of diagnostic imaging and in the leadership of a large, tertiary care facility. The spectrum of care is comprehensive and includes Interventional Radiology, CT/MRI, Breast Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, as well as service to the Intensive Care Units and Emergency Department. The incumbent is expected to actively participate in clinical activity. Prior VA supervisory experience is preferred as is an excellent knowledge of the VA's CPRS and radiology package.
Diagnostic Imaging Service serves as an important site for graduate medical education and research. Staff support is of high quality and equipment is state-of-the-art.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is currently no call requirement (subject to change).
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates. The examination will be concerned with the mental and physical ability of teh applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position in addition to any specialty privileges requested.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. U. S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
2. Have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting for a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
3. Must possess and maintain current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
4. Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
5. Physical requirements outlined below.

- Board certification in diagnostic radiology
- Experience in an institution affiliated with an accredited radiology program and radiology fellowships
- Experience teaching and supervising radiology residents and fellows at a teaching Medical Center
- A working knowledge of CPRS (or similar system), and radiology informatics systems
- Established performance measures related to the practice of diagnostic imaging
- Demonstrated leadership in performance improvement and patient safety projects
- History of scholarship and publications, including ability to mentor VA radiology researchers
