JOB SUMMARY:
To protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners.

Serves as personal assistant and office manager for the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the field office and ensures continuity of office operations in the absence of the ASAC
Ensures that proper practices and procedures are used by subordinate office segments and provides accurate, timely advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters
Responds to inquiries and administrative problems brought to the ASAC by staff members, other officials in the Bureau, and others outside the Bureau
Conducts detailed research projects on specialized and complicated subject matters to prepare non-routine reports, and develops material for the ASAC's use in public-speaking engagements
Performs necessary clerical duties, including: taking and transcribing dictation or typing from voice recordings or rough drafts; using office automation equipment and software to generate a variety of correspondence; receiving and transmitting electronic messages and mail; entering, maintaining, and retrieving administrative data; and reviewing all correspondence requiring the ASAC's approval

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (SE)
Qualifications for GS-09: To be considered for the GS-09 level applicants must possess one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-08 grade level. SE is:
Received and screened callers and visitors to the office, and read incoming mail to determine proper action
Composed and typed correspondence and reports, and reviewed outgoing correspondence and documents for conformance with policies regulations, grammar, and format
Maintained supervisor's business calendar and made travel arrangements and hotel reservations
Acted as liaison between supervisor and other staff members
Conducted basic research projects and prepared reports of findings
EDUCATION
Education may not be substituted for Specialized Experience (SE) at these grade levels.

Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months.
All selectees, with the exception of current FBI employees, will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from Legat assignment.
Generally, following a COST TRANSFER you will be eligible for transfer after completing three years in the assignment. Additionally, NO COST TRANSFER require a two-year assignment commitment to be eligible for further FBI transfers.
