LOCATION OF POSITION: This position is located in the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality, Center for Primary Care, Prevention, and Clinical Partnerships (CP3) in Rockville, MD.  CP3 has primary responsibility for promoting research that will improve access to, and the effectiveness, quality and cost of primary health care services, including clinical preventive services.  The Center supports the work of the USPSTF and the Agency's effort to assure that the scientific evidence related to prevention is translated into policy and practice.

Applications will be accepted from all groups of qualified persons, including non-citizens and Public Health Service Commissioned Officers.  No previous federal experience is required.  This is an Excepted Service position under Title 42. This appointment does not confer any entitlement to a position in the competitive service and no entitlement to Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) appeal rights.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Provides overall scientific leadership and direction to the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) program.  Serves as the Agency's primary contact with the leadership and members of the USPSTF.  Works closely with the Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPCs) supporting the USPSTF.  Implements program changes to improve the timeliness and efficiency of the development and release of USPSTF recommendations.  Manages and mentors team members with responsibility for supporting the efforts of the USPSTF.  Provides scientific insight and expertise while establishing the Agency's prevention-related research agenda and grant initiatives.  Communicates in writing and through presentations with the public and stakeholders about AHRQ's work in prevention and develops collaborative partnerships. Serves as the principal advisor to the Director, AHRQ, the Director, CP3, and other senior Departmental officials on all matters related to the USPSTF.

Basic Qualifications for RS-0610 Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

 

Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained.

 

The incumbent must also have experience in health service research (in general) and clinical prevention or evidence-based medicine in particular; and be outstanding in the field of clinical research evaluation or biomedical research; and be actively engaged in clinical evaluation or biomedical research. In addition, the applicant must be an advanced practice nurse, a doctorally prepared nurse, or an RN with a Ph.D.


Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. How You Will Be Evaluated:
