e-Scholar

e-Scholar is a one-stop portal for publicizing educational opportunities available to students (high school to doctorate) and career professionals (teaching faculty to lead scientist). Our goal is to simplify the process of finding educational opportunities and assist Federal Government agencies in attracting talented professionals from diverse groups and academic areas. e-Scholar provides information on the following types of programs:

Apprenticeships: Provide an individual the opportunity to learn and obtain qualifications in a specified trade or craft. These opportunities vary in length from agency to agency.

Cooperative Education: Provides the opportunity for the student, educational institution, and a Federal department or agency to enhance a student's career through a combination of classroom studies and on-the-job training. Students can serve their nation while receiving experience for future employment opportunities. Cooperative educational programs allow students to apply theories and work on projects that give real-life meaning to classroom instruction. Students or career professionals receive mentoring opportunities and closely interact with experts in a given field of study.

Fellowships: Provide an individual the opportunity to serve in an ideal setting for advanced subspecialty training. Individuals are given the opportunity to study and gain invaluable insight into a particular field of study. These programs can last from 6 weeks to several years.

Grants: Provide funds to an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization, usually for a specific project. Monetary grants are given to assist in paying for education, or research and development projects. In some cases, grant awards do not require repayment.

Internships: Provide an individual with a monitored or supervised work or service experience where the individual has intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what he or she is learning throughout the experience. These learning goals can include: academic learning, career development, skill development, and personal development.

Scholarships: Provide funds to an individual who has demonstrated high academic achievement and the desire to further their education in a field of study. Scholarships may be awarded up to 4 years to an individual.
